Role

Lead Product Designer, UX,UI

The team of 1 Product Manager, 4 Engineers.

Challenge

RunChina launched in 2014, but due to the lack of promotion of the website and the unattractive web design, the number of page views of RunChina was relatively small. It was necessary to sort out the structure of the web page, improve the visual effects to increase the traffic of the website.

My Role

As the only UI/UX designer in the team, my responsibility was to analyze the current situation of the website, adjust the IA to make it more reasonable. Furthermore, I set up a new design system to make the layout and design theme not only unified, but also full of its own characteristics.

User Research

In order to have a better understanding of the needs and concerns that people have with designing or maintaining their gardens, I conducted user interviews with 5 participants:

My Reflection

  • Due to the Covid-19, we were not able to directly communicate with enough participants/organizers. How we overcame this problem was to create an online survey to have a deep understanding of what marathon amateurs really care about. We thrived to tightly link our design to user's needs.
  • For the next step, we would like to interview and engage more event organizers who can represent our personas more accurately.
